Best video file format for Qlab
- ProRes 422 Proxy (roughly 70 per cent of the data rate and 30 percent smaller file size than ProRes 422)
- ProRes 422 LT (even more highly compressed codec than Apple ProRes 422 LT, intended for use in offline workflows that require low data rates but full-resolution video. The target data rate is approximately 45 Mbps at 1920x1080 and 29.97 fps.)
- If you use h.264 (storage limitations), make sure it’s encoded as CBR.
- ProRes-4444 if your content requires an alpha-channel.
- PhotoJPEG - 50% to 70% setting. Probably the “lightest” in terms of Cpu burden but quality could be an issue.
- Apple Compressor
Best video file format for Resolume
- DXV 3 Codec
- Convert to DXV with Alley 2.0
Best video file format for Millumin
- Use HAP or HAP Q (higher quality) if the content does not require an alpha-channel. Otherwise, use HAP Alpha or HAP Alpha Q.
- Use ProRes-422, or ProRes-4444 if your content requires an alpha-channel.
- AVF Batch convertor
Best video file format for Playback Pro
- Apple ProRes 4:2:2 Standard (not HQ or LT)
- h.264
- Wrapper: .mov (.mp4 is not recommended)
